Key Features
  • The Zenith of High-End Electronic Luxury (1977): In **1977**, the **Seiko King Quartz** stood as a premier symbol of the ""Quartz Revolution."" The reference **5856-8000** was produced by the **Suwa Seikosha** factory during an era when electronic movements were still considered high-status luxury items. Positioned to exceed the performance of traditional mechanical watches, it offered the Japanese executive a level of ""Grand Seiko"" level finishing combined with the unrivaled accuracy of a precision crystal oscillator.
  • The High-Grade 8-Jewel Caliber 5856 Heart: This watch is powered by the **8-jewel Caliber 5856**, a sophisticated and robust early quartz movement. Unlike modern, mass-produced quartz engines, the 58-series was engineered for longevity, utilizing **8 functional jewels** to reduce friction in the gear train and facilitate smooth mechanical interaction. It features an **instantaneous day-date change** and high-torque performance, ensuring that the heavy, multifaceted hands moved with clinical precision—a hallmark of Seiko's premium 1970s calibers.
  • Architectural ""8000"" Grammar of Design Case: The reference **5856-8000** features a stainless steel case that perfectly embodies the **""Seiko Style""** of the late 70s. It is characterized by sharp, integrated lines and mirror-polished flat surfaces achieved through specialized finishing techniques. In **1977**, this sleek, low-profile architecture was designed to feel futuristic yet dignified, ensuring the watch maintained a substantial executive presence while sliding effortlessly under a dress shirt cuff.
  • Masterful ""King Quartz"" Dial Artistry: The dial of the **5856-8000** is a study in clinical luxury, often featuring a radiant sunburst finish or a delicate, paper-like texture with **hand-applied, multifaceted baton indices**. The dual-calendar window at 3 o'clock houses a bilingual (English/Kanji) day disk, prioritizing professional utility. The applied **""King Quartz"" logo** and the distinctive quartz crystal symbol at 6 o'clock remain iconic hallmarks of an era when Seiko was the undisputed world leader in high-precision technology.
  • A Landmark of Suwa's Electronic Heritage: Produced in **1977**, the 5856-8000 remains a highly respected reference for collectors of the ""High-Accuracy"" era. It represents the successful transition from mechanical mastery to electronic dominance, combining **traditional Japanese case craftsmanship with pioneering semiconductor technology**. It stands as a testament to an era when Suwa Seikosha perfected the **""High-Status Quartz,""** creating a reliable and historically significant masterpiece that remains a definitive icon of 1970s style.
